联系人A) 德国Heinrich Spiecker教授弗莱堡大学森林生长研究所所长Tel.: +49- (0)761 - 203-3736Fax: +49- (0)761 - 203-3740Email: instww@iww.uni-freiburg.de Dominik Stangler弗莱堡大学森林生长研究所Tel.: +49- (0)761 - 203-8578Fax: +49- (0)761 - 203-3740Email: dominik.stangler@iww.uni-freiburg.de B) 中国北京 陈玉洁中国林科院国际合作处项目官员Tel.: +86-10-62889092Fax: +86-10-62884229Email: chenyj@caf.ac.cn, evens_chan17@126.com 吴水荣博士中国林科院林业科技信息研究所副研究员Tel.: +86-10-62888322Fax : +86-10-62884836Email: wu.shuirong@gmail.com C) 中国广西郭文福热带林业实验中学高级工程师Tel.: +86-771-8526136Email: guo_wf@hotmail.com 温远光教授广西大学林学院院长Tel.: +86-771-3271428Email:wenyg@263.net International Conference onMultipurpose Forest Management under Changing Conditions23- 25 November, 2011 | Nanning, Guangxi, China Sponsors:Ÿ Chinese Academy of Forestry (CAF)Ÿ University of FreiburgŸ Dresden, University of TechnologyŸ Association of Forest Ecology, Chinese Society of Forestry Organizers:Ÿ Guangxi UniversityŸ The Experimental Center of Tropical Forestry BackgroundIt is increasingly rare now for forests to be managed for the single purpose of providing wood. Over the past few decades the societal expectations from forests have changed fundamentally. It is now recognized that forests have a very wide range of ecological, economic and societal functions that can be broadly classified as supporting (nutrient cycling, soil formation, primary production), provisioning (food, fresh water, wood, fiber and fuel), regulating (climate, flood, plant disease regulation and water purification) and cultural (aesthetic, spiritual, educational and recreational). Increasingly societies, particularly those which are better off economically, demand more from forests than mere forest products, thus bringing about a huge challenge to the forest scientists and managers on account of the enormous complexities that multipurpose forest management imposed on the practitioners. And these complexities become even more serious in view of the changing climate.Over the past four years, scientists from China and Germany have worked together to understand these complexities better in order to be able to optimize the production of competing goods and services from forests to the better satisfaction of the society even as they provide long term ecological stability. This international conference has been proposed as a platform for discussing the findings of research work carried out under the project as also to interact with scientists working in related fields across the world.Topicsl Adaptive Silviculture for Multipurpose Land Use- Adaptation of silviculture to climate change (keynote)- Supporting (nutrient cycling, soil ecosystem services, primary production)- Provisioning (food, fresh water, wood and fibre, fuel)- Regulating (climate-, flood-, disease-regulation, water purification)- Cultural (aesthetic, spiritual, educational, recreational)l Forestmanagement and carbon sequestration- Carbon in forest ecosystems: Part 1 above ground- Carbon in forest ecosystems: Part 2 below ground- Carbon in wood products- Wood for energy purposes- Carbon substitutes- Charcoall Biomass assessment and harvesting techniques- Wood and biomass assessment in forests- Harvesting- Transport and logisticsl Markets for forest goods and services- Valuable wood- Construction wood- Plywood products, particle board, and fiber board- Biomass for pulp and paper- Biomass for energy- Non-wood productsl Ecological and socio-economic evaluation- Multi-criteria analysis- Criteria and indicators- Certification, etcTime, Venue and a Rough ScheduleThe Conference is to be held on November 23-24, 2011 in Nanning, Guangxi.l Nov. 22, 2011: Pre-conference training workshop (optional) on: selecting future crop trees, pruning and thinning, in Pingxiang, Guangxil Nov. 23-24, 2011: International Conference on Multipurpose Forest Management under Changing Conditions, Nanning, Guangxil Nov. 25, 2011: Excursion on Multipurpose Forest Management in Pingxiang, GuangxiWorking LanguageThe Conference will be held in English.Call for Papers/PostersBoth papers and posters are welcome.
