The Chinese Academy of Forestry (CAF) is a national comprehensive and multi-discipline forest research institution for public welfare in China. The Chinese Academy of Forestry is principally engaged in basic and applied research on forestry and grassland, research on strategic high technology, major social welfare project as well as technological development and soft science studies. It addresses the overarching, comprehensive, critical and fundamental issues (both scientific and technological) in the sustainable development of forest and grassland in China.

Over the past 60 years, the Chinese Academy of Forestry has provided the national forestry and national major forestry programs with vigorous scientific and technological support, making great contributions to the development of forestry, improvement of ecological environment, enhancement of ecological resilience, and the construction of ecological civilization.
