
Prof. Wang Yangdong, Ph.D. supervisor. He concurrently serves as the chief member of the national committee on standardization technology of economic forestry products, the chief member of the Oak branch of the Chinese Society of Forestry, the chief leader of the innovation team on the special forest and wood resource breeding and cultivation nominated by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and the deputy director of the editorial board of Journal of Forestry Science.
Prof. Wang Yangdong mainly engaged in basic research on genetic breeding of Quercus (oak) Litsea cubeba and other important forest tree species. He has taken a leading role in more than 20 major forestry projects and key projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China and the New Forest Tree Variety Breeding Program of Zhejiang Province; he has published over 100 academic papers in the Journal of National Communications, Journal of Horticulture Research, Journal of Forestry Research and other journals. He has edited or co-edited 7 monographs, obtained 12 authorized invention patents, approved 5 provincial-level improved varieties and 2 awards on science and technology at ministerial and provisional levels.
Prof. Wang Dongyang and his team have made breakthrough progress in the selection, demonstration and promotion of improved varieties of Litsea cubeba, Ernicia fordii and Quercus (oak). Relevant achievements have been demonstrated and promoted in Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Guizhou, Fujian, Hubei, Jiangsu and other places, boosting the forestry industry development and rural revitalization as well.
