In 3-4 May 2022, the 31st Working Group Meeting of the Montreal process was held in South Korea. Department of Forest Resources Management of National Forestry and Grassland Administration (NFGA) organized the Chinese delegation to participate in the meeting online. Xiao Wenfa, vice president of CAF, and representatives from Research Institute of Forestry and Division of International Cooperation of CAF attended the meeting.

The meeting shared the latest progress on sustainable forest management among the countries and working progress of the Technical Group. The comprehensive process review report, holding thematic seminars and other effective regional protection measures were also discussed at the meeting. Representatives from CAF reported the progress of the work as the Liaison Office. The Chinese delegation actively participated in the discussion of the topics at the meeting, shared the pilot experience of China's sustainable forest management, contributed Chinese wisdom, and expressed sincere thanks to South Korean for hosting the meeting and to the convener of the Technical Group for their contribution.

The Montreal Process is an intergovernmental technology forum established in 1994 to promote regional and global sustainable forest management by developing and utilizing forest sustainability standards and indicator systems for monitoring and reporting temperate and boreal forest conditions. China officially became a member of the Montreal process in 1999 through diplomatic channels, and actively participated in the relevant activities and work of the Working Group and the Technical Group. Experts from CAF have long severed as the member of Technical Group to provide technical support for China’s participation in the Montreal Process, and undertook the Liaison Office of the Montreal Process in 2019.（Division of International Cooperation）
