Prof. Song Zhanqian

Ph.D. supervisor, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, expert in forest product chemistry.

Prof. Song Zhanqian has been engaged in research on forest product chemical processing and engineering development, and is one of the pioneers in chemical utilization of rosin and associated engineering development in China. He took the lead in intensive chemical processing of rosin and serialized research and engineering development, and has successively produced more than 30 products such as polymerized rosin and hydrogenated rosin. Prof. Song Zhanqian proposed a new approach of combining rosin intensive processing with fine chemicals, and 10 kinds of fine chemicals were developed and used to make up for the shortage of petroleum raw materials. The conversion rate of applied achievements is 90%, generating significant economic and social benefits and enabling technology exports. For the first time, he systematically studied the chemical properties of Pinus rosin to separate and identify Lambertianicacid and other components from Pinus tabuliformis rosin and analyze the chemical reaction mechanism of rosin, which provides the important basis for the chemical classification of pine trees and the utilization of rosin resources.

Prof.Song Zhanqian has won the Second Prizes (three times) and Third Prize (once) of the National Award for National Progress in Science and Technology, 14 prizes for progress in science and technology at provincial and ministerial levels. He has published more than 400 academic papers, one book, and co-edited two books. He has obtained more than 50 invention patents at home and abroad.

In 1999, Prof. Song Zhanqian was elected as an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
