Prof. Lu Qi once served as the Director of the Institute of Desertification Studies, Deputy Director of the Institute of Ecological Protection and Restoration, Director of the Experimental Center of Desert Forestry of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, Deputy Director and Secretary General of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Desertification Prevention and Control.
Prof. Lu Qi has been engaged in scientific research such as desertification prevention and control, ecosystem management of arid areas, and macro-strategy policy. Since 1995, he has hosted and participated in more than 30 scientific research projects at international, national, provincial and ministerial levels, published more than 180 academic papers (translated), edited or co-edited (translated) over 20 books. He was awarded multiple prizes for progress in science and technology at national, provincial and ministerial levels multiple times. He participated in the founding of the Journal of Research Institute of Desertification Studies, Journal of Research Institute of Three-North Shelter Forest Program and the Journal of Desertification, and served as an independent expert of the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, consultant of the Global Environment Facility and the Asian Development Bank.
