In November 2017, the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology officially certified the International Sci-tech Cooperation Base for Efficient Conversion and Utilization of Forestry Biomass. Focusing on the strategic goals of national biomass industry development, the mission of this Base is to leverage the international cooperation advantages in the field of biomass chemical utilization, such as biomass energy and materials, and the utilization of plant active resources at the Research Institute of Chemical Processing and Utilization of Forest Products of Chinese Academy of Forestry. The Base also aims to strengthen collaborations with universities and research institutions in European, American, Asian and African countries, to further promote openness and cooperation in international scientific and technological exchange, as well as to lead and set an example for the development of international scientific and technological cooperation in the field or region.

As of now, relying on the Research Institute of Chemical Processing and Utilization of Forest Products of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, the Base has established technical exchange and cooperation links with over 60 institutions in more than 30 countries, with cooperation growing, levels increasing and influence expanding. This has provided strong support to facilitate the structural transformation and upgrading of traditional industries and promote the development of emerging industries.
