Joint Laboratory of Wood Supramolecular Materials

In 2023, the Research Institute of Wood Industry, Chinese Academy of Forestry (CAF) and the Bioproducts Institute, University of British Columbia in Canada (UBC) signed a cooperation agreement to establish a joint laboratory for wood supramolecular materials, and an official opening ceremony was held on September 5.

The Joint Laboratory of Wood Supramolecular Materials aims to unite international and domestic research forces to jointly promote innovative research in wood supramolecular science and form a platform where researchers from China and Canada can conduct cooperative research in the field of wood supramolecular science. The Joint Laboratory focuses on wood-based supramolecular materials, wood physics, mechanics and chemistry properties, wood modification, and high-value utilization of full carbon from biomass. Scientific payoffs of the joint laboratory will help the transformation and upgrading of wood industry, achieve the full carbon utilization of biomass materials, provide theoretical support for reducing carbon emissions, and solving global problems such as climate change and environmental pollution.

The Joint Laboratory of Wood Supramolecular Materials is located at the Research Institute of Wood Industry of the Chinese Academy of Forestry. Upon on the specific needs of the cooperation project, researchers are selected from both China and Canada to participate in the scientific research and management of the laboratory.
