Brief Introduction:

Dalbergia spp. is widely distributed in tropical area in Asia, African and American. The wide germplasm resources of Dalbergia have been destroyed and erosion as the result of anthropogenic activities and environment changes, and some species is endangered. It is significant to investigate the inventory, establish the conservation system and monitoring network, and explore and use the important trait on the conservation and sustain use of germplasm resources of Dalbergia spp. this project is cooperated with Biodiversity International to do the population genetic, phylogeography relevant research. Aim to clear the general status, evolutionary process, and future development trends, construct the cross-regional conservation network, and make a scientific conservation strategy on the germplasm resources of Dalbergia spp. The technique and methodology of modern molecular biology, geographical informatics, and computer science will be applied to study the genetic diversity, pattern of genetic variation and differentiation, and potential risk of genetic erosion for key species in Dalbergia spp. Not only the implementing of this joint project will be advantage of conservation and sustain use of Dalbergia spp. but also it will provide more the international cooperation experience on the forest genetic resource.
