Brief Introduction:
There is an important basis for solving the global scientific and technological problem of the accurate identification of wood species and origin. It is the construction of a scientific and perfect wood classification database based on wood specimens. This project intends to carry out innovative international cooperation on specimen resource information mining and utilization, relying on internationally renowned wood specimen conservation entities-Naturalis Biodiversity Center, Leiden, Netherlands (Naturalis), The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (Kew) and our institute and its team of experts.
Anatomically, genetic and chemical information of wood specimens will be collected from multiple sources, and the multi-source heterogeneous classification features will be deeply fused at the data layer, feature layer and decision layer, respectively. Key features indicating the differences between wood species and populations will be extracted. The variation rules of wood xylem characteristics are revealed, and a wood classification feature database based on multi-source heterogeneous data will establish, and a deep learning model will construct. This work will help to achieve accurate and intelligent identification of wood species and origin, to promote the protection of global forest species diversity and sustainable use of forest resources, and to support China's international compliance and scientific and technological innovation in the field of forest and grass.
