Prof. Hu Jianjun is the chief expert of Forest molecular Breeding Innovation Team, Research Institute of Forestry, Chinese Academy of Forestry, Group leader of National Key Laboratory of Forest Genetic Breeding, Secretary General and vice president of Forest Genome and Genetic Engineering Innovation Alliance, deputy chairman of Chinses Poplar Committee. It is in an international leading position in the research of systematic collection, preservation and evaluation of insect resistant breeding resources, insect resistant gene mining and excellent germplasm creation, conventional hybridiation and transgenic breeding, insect resistant identification and selection technology, breeding demonstration and promotion of new varieties of insect resistant poplars, and has established a five-level breeding program of "three selection and two identification" for excellent clones of insect resistant poplars. The new varieties of Danhong, Chuangxin, Senhai and so on have been planted in more than 5 million mu nationwide, with remarkable social and economic benefits, and won Liangxi Science and Technology Progress Award.
