Main work
With over 15 years of research and field experience dedicated to the Forest products market and trade, Prof. Su Haiying has an expertise in forestry foreign investment and green finance. She has spearheaded over 30 research and development projects in collaboration with eminent organizations like NFGA, DFID, WWF, EFI, and GEF. Totally 10 books and more than 40+ papers have been published as the key author.
Prof. Su Haiying is passionate about promoting overseas green investment by forestry enterprises. She has developed handbooks on overseas forestry investment and trade in various countries to encourage sustainable forest management practices among enterprises, with a keen emphasis on local environmental and community benefits.
Prof. Su Haiying's primary focus lies in fostering dialogue and exchanges on legal and sustainable supply chains between China and tropical timber-producing countries. She has made several trips to tropical timber-producing nations such as Gabon, Cameroon, Mozambique, Guyana, Peru, Malaysia, and Indonesia, conducting research on the international trade chain and supply chain of wood forest products between 2012 and 2023.
Prof. Su Haiying has been a part of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Expert Group on Combating Illegal Logging and Related Trade (EGILAT) from 2013-2022. She chairs the preparation of APEC country guidance on timber legality and actively participates in the expert group's deliberation of annual priority policy issues. She is actively involved in and supports timber legality negotiations between China-South Korea, China-Russia, China-Canada, China-Australia. She contributes to the development and pilot of China's timber legality verification system.
Now she is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) and contributes to the CFC's deliberations on projects related to timber, coffee, soybean flavors, and more.
