Main work

Prof. Wang Yan acts as a PHD, doctoral superviser and chief expert in flower breeding and cultivation innovation team. She is mainly engaged in research work in fields including ornamental plant resources and breeding, cultivation and propagation and industrialization development and innovation. The key points of my research are on conservation of paeoniaceae and orchidaceae plants germplasm resources and development of modern water-fertilizer integrated cultivation technology system. In addition, she has raised my insight over the molecular mechanism of tree peony, orchid color and fragrance, as well as analyzing the heredity pattern of important ornamental traits, making breakthroughs in fields like flower development mechanism and cultivation of new varieties. Besides, she is the deputy secretary general of the National Flower Standardization Technical Committee, deputy director of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration led Forest Variety Certification Committee ornamental plant professional committee, secretary general of the Peony Branch of China Flower Association, and director of the Orchid Branch of the Botanical Society of China.
