Main work
Prof. Xiao Jianmin served as the project leader is responsible for about 20 research projects, with a total budget of RMB 5.0 million, mainly focusing on international cooperation projects. The main research directions are forest certification and Sino-Africa forestry cooperation. His research level in these two fields is leading domestically, and significant social benefits have been achieved.
In the direction of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) forest certification, Prof. Xiao Jianming's main achievements include:
being responsible for the development and revision of three international standards for FSC forest certification, making outstanding contributions to the construction of a Chinese standard system for FSC forest certification, and providing strong support for domestic forest products to enter the international market;
Provided technical support to more than 20 domestic forest management joint certification enterprises (accounting for about a quarter of the national FSC certification), improved the sustainable management level of millions of acres of forests, and achieved an annual output value of FSC certified forest products of hundreds of millions of yuan, increasing employment opportunities by about thousands of people;
Provided technical support for FSC certification for multiple Chinese forest management enterprises in Africa, promoted the sustainable operation of overseas Chinese enterprises, and provided technical support for the implementation of the "Going Global" strategy in the forestry industry.
