Main work

Prof. Xu Shichao's researches are focus on the basic or application research in the fields of green processing of gum rosin, chemical utilization of turpentine, essential oil processing and utilization, functionalized biomass-based polymers. He has led 10 scientific research projects including the sub projects of the 12th, 13th and 14th Five Year National Key R&D Program of China, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Through relevant work: A 10000 ton/year green processing demonstration line for water saving and emission reduction of gum rosin was renovated and constructed. The water consumption and the loss of gum rosin were reduced by more than 70%. A low toxicity and low risk preparation technology for p-menthane diamine was developed. A 200 ton/year pilot demonstration line was established. The foreign technical barrier for it was broken through. Three key technologies for biomimetic green oxidation of turpentine monoterpenes were exploited. Thermal controlled selective conversions of related oxygen-containing monoterpenes were achieved. 17 series of over 300 new botanical herbicides derived from turpentine were created, among which over 30 compounds' herbicidal activity are superior to or equivalent to commercial herbicides such as glyphosate or glyphosate. As the first or the corresponding author, 23 research papers of mine were published in Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Green Chem., Chin. Chem. Lett., etc. The total IF value of the published SCI papers is 84.254. As the first or the second inventor, 9 invention patents of mine have been granted including one Japanese patent (the first inventor) and one US patent (the second inventor).
