Main work

Prof. Luo Zhibin gained his PhD in Forest Botany under the supervision of Professor Andrea Polle at the University of Goettingen in Germany in Feburary 2006. Afterwards, as a postdoctor in Goettingen, he focused on research topics about the molecular and physiological acclimation mechanisms of poplars to abiotic and biotic stresses. In September 2008, he was appointed as a full professor in Plant Physiology in Northwest Agriculture & Forestry University of China. In June 2015, He joined in the State Key Laboratory of Tree Genetics and Breeding, Chinese Academy of Forestry. At his new position, he established a research group focusing on Tree Stress Physiology and Breeding. Currently, his research interests are to elucidate the molecular and physiological mechanisms of woody plants in response to abiotic and biotic stresses, including heavy metals, nutrient deficiency, salinity, drought and ectomycorrhizal fungi. As the first and/or corresponding author, He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers in international journals. The molecular and physiological mechanisms have been elucidated underlying the responses of poplars to heavy metals, nutrient deficiency, salinity and drought by Luo's group. At the same time, a number of transgenic poplars with stronger stress tolerance have been created by Luo's group. He is selected as top highly cited authors (2% top scientists globally) in 2021 and 2022.
