Prof. Qiu Deyou's research work mainly includes investigating on the molecular mechanism of taxol biosynthesis and its regulation. His purpose is to obtain cell lines or transgenic plants with significantly improved taxol content through genetic engineering or synthetic biology approach. The molecular mechanism of taxol biosynthesis induced by MeJA in Taxus cell line was studied and a taxoid 9α-hydroxylase was identified from Ginkgo biloba.
