Main work

In terms of forest sustainable management and forest certification research, Prof. Hu Yanjie participated in the whole process of the establishment and operation of Chinese Forest Certification Scheme, served as the leader of FSC China Forest Management Certification Standard revision team, published several books on forest certification, and as a core member, developed four forest certification standards. At the same time, she was dedicated to the development and promotion of forest certification technologies. The key technologies of forest certification have been promoted and applied in a number of forest enterprises and timber processing enterprises, and the promotion area accounts for more than 50% of the total area of forest certification in China, providing solutions for forest enterprises to carry out sustainable forest management and forest product manufacturers to enter the international market. It has not only promoted sustainable forest management from theory to practice, but also achieved good social, economic and ecological benefits. As a chief auditor of forest certification schemes, she has rich audit experience and unique insights into forest certification practices in China. In terms of research on forest products market and trade, she leaded many research projects on forest products market and trade funded by ITTO, FAO, WWF and State Forestry Administration, etc. The structure of raw materials supply, processing system, circulation mode, consumption structure and trade mode of forest products in China were systematically studied. Based on supply and demand forecasting model and trade model, the China Forest Products Market Model (CFPMM) was developed to quantitatively analyze the supply and demand of forest products and international trade. The ITTO project reports "Study on Transparency of Trade Flows in Tropical Forest Products" and "Study on Forecast of Supply and Demand of Forest Products in China 2020" were highly praised by the ITTO Secretariat and widely publicized as "successful stories" in member countries.

In addition, Prof. Hu Yanjie have also leaded a number of community forestry projects, and have strong theoretical foundation and rich practical experience in participatory forestry, social impact assessment, gender analysis etc.
