PI of ecology of global change, director of national key field station-Jianfengling long-term ecological observation station to understand the behaviour of Hainan's tropical forests in the changing earth system. Prof. Chen Dexiang's research centres on the floristics, ecological dynamics, and human use of tropical forests, which are undergoing unprecedented change. His main long-term research goal is to understand the dynamics of carbon and nitrogen cycles across the Hainan's tropical forests, how these change with our changing climate, and how they feedback on the planet.
