Main work
Prof. Zhang Wei has presided over and undertaken projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, agricultural achievements transformation projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, public welfare projects of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, etc. He has published 60 academic journal papers as the first author or corresponding author in academic journals such as Forests, Buildings, and Journal of Forestry Engineering, among which 13 were included in SCI; authorized 23 national invention patents as the first completer; obtained appraisal results as the main completer 10 projects, many research results have been promoted and applied in forestry production. Head of the "Wood Processing Equipment and Intelligence" Science and Technology Innovation Team of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Chief Expert of the "Wood and Bamboo Intelligent Manufacturing Equipment Innovation Team" of the National Forestry and Grassland Equipment Science and Technology Innovation Park's first batch of science and technology innovation teams, Bamboo Industry Equipment of the China Bamboo Industry Association Chairman of the branch, serves as a graduate tutor at Beijing Forestry University and Northeast Forestry University. From 2019 to 2023, he was selected as an individual science and technology commissioner and the leader of the science and technology commissioner team of Fujian Province for five consecutive years. Editorial board member of the journals "Forestry Science", "Wood Science and Technology" and "China Wood-Based Panels".

Awards & achievements
The 2020 research result "Key Technologies and Applications of Wooden Building Structural Material Grading Equipment" won the first prize of the Liang Xi Forestry Science and Technology Award (ranked first) and was selected into the National 13th Five-Year Science and Technology Innovation Achievements Exhibition.
The 2016 research result "Manufacturing technology and application of high-speed electric spindle for wood processing" won the second prize of Liang Xi Science and Technology Progress Award (ranked first).
