Research Institute of Ecology Conservation and Restoration Receives Mongolian Delegation

In 4-9 May 2023, a Mongolian delegation led by Mr. Batuhu, Advisor to the President of Mongolia on Environment and Green Development Policy, visited China. Accompanied by Prof. Lu Qi, Chief Scientist of the Chinese Academy of Forestry (CAF), and Prof. Wu Bo, Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Ecology Conservation and Restoration, the delegation paid a field trip to Inner Mongolia.


The Mongolian delegation visited to the Experimental Center of Desert Forestry of CAF in Dengkou County, Bayannur City, Inner Mongolia, where they also paid a field trip to the demonstration sites of oasis shelterbelts, afforestation in sandy area, and Haloxylon ammodendron inoculation with Cistanche deserticola. In addition, the delegation visited the Dengkou Desert Ecological Station, learnt the sandstorm monitoring platform and the application of positioning equipment. During the field trip, in-depth exchanges were conducted on how to promote Sino-Mongolia cooperation on desertification combating. The Mongolian delegation spoke highly of China's achievements in desertification combating and expressed its sincere gratitude for the arrangement.


This visit mainly aims to discuss with the Mongolian side matters related to its Afforestation Campaign --“Billion Trees” and the establishment of Sino-Mongolia Cooperation Center for Combating Desertification. The members of the delegation are from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia, the Ministry of Economy and Development of Mongolia, the Institute of Geography and Geoecology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, and etc.


The Research Institute of Ecology Conservation and Restoration of CAF will fully leverage its strengths in the field of combating desertification, consolidate expert resources, wholeheartedly support the cooperation between China and Mongolia on desertification combating, and jointly promote green development under the framework of the “Belt and Road” Initiative.
