Ph.D. supervisor, Chief Scientist of the Chinese Academy of Forestry. He is a foreign Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, a member of the International Academy of Wood Sciences, and fellow of ERGS (International Association of Mechanical Pulp Scientists).

Prof. Fang Guigan is mainly engaged in key technology research on wood properties, clean pulping technology and equipment, high-efficiency wastewater treatment and high-efficiency conversion of agricultural and forestry biomass. He has presided over more than 100 national, provincial-level domestic, United Nations Development Programme, European Union, Sino-French, Sino-Australian and other international collaboration projects, as well as industry-university-research cooperation programmes with large pulp and paper enterprises. He has obtained multiple awards on science and technology at national, provincial and ministerial levels.
