Prof. Luo Zhibin

Ph.D. supervisor, Chief Scientist of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, Deputy Director of the Saline Alkali Land Center of the Institute of Ecological Protection and Restoration, Chinese Academy of Forestry.

Prof. Luo Zhibin concurrently serves as Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the Saline Alkali Land Branch of the Chinese Society of Forestry, Deputy Director of the Tree Physiology and Biochemistry Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Forestry, Advisory Member of New Phytologist, Editor of Tree Physiology, a top journal in the field of forestry, and the only Deputy Editor-in-chief of Environmental and Experimental Botany in Asia.

Prof. Luo Zhibin has been mainly engaged in the following researchfields: forest tree stress physiology and resistance breeding, focusing on physiological and molecular mechanisms of tree adaptation to stress (such as drought, salt, heavy metals, nutrient deficiency, etc.), the interaction between trees and the environment (interaction between forest trees and increased CO2concentration, nitrogen deposition, and mycorrhizal fungi), the molecular and physiological basis of wood quality formation, etc. Integrating the knowledge of forestry, cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology and bioinformatics, he carried out research on the response of forest trees to changing environmental conditions and their adaptation mechanisms, developed new germplasm of stress-resistant forest trees.

Prof. Luo Zhibin has led and participated in more than 20 projects at national, provincial and ministerial levels and published more than 50 SCI papers in high-level international journals. According to data released by the Global Scholar Index, he was selected into the top 100,000 scientists in the world; according to data released by Elsevier, an information analytics business, he was selected as China’s Highly Cited Scholar in the field of agronomy in 2021 and 2022.
