Prof. Zhou Yonghong concurrently serves as the Deputy Director General of the National Engineering Laboratory for Biomass Chemical Utilization, the Deputy Director General of the National Research Center for Forest Products Chemical Engineering and Technology, the Deputy Director of the Standards Technical Committee of National Forest Chemical Products, the Member of the Youth Works Committee and the Biomass Materials Science Branch of the Chinese Society of Forestry, and the Director General of National Innovation Alliance of the Forestry Biomaterials and Chemicals Science and Technology.

Prof. Zhou Yonghong has been engaged in research on green chemical conversion of forestry biomass such as rosin, oil and lignin, innovative synthesis of biomass energy, bio-based polymer materials and green chemicals and their applications. He took a leading role in more than 60 scientific research projects at national, provincial and ministerial levels and published 165 academic papers and obtained 56 authorized patents.
