Prof. Zhang Jianguo concurrently serves as a member of the Forestry Discipline Evaluation Group of the State Council, Executive Director of the Chinese Society of Forestry, Chairman of the Oil Olive Technical Committee of the China Economic Forest Association, and a member of the Forestry Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education.

Prof. Zhang Jianguo has been mainly engaged in research on high-generation breeding and directional cultivation of Cunninghamia lanceolata, genetic improvement of Hippophae rhamnoides and high-yield cultivation, selection and high-yield cultivation of improved oil olive varieties, forest tree seedling technology, and the origin and evolution of Populus. He has taken a leading role in more than 20 scientific research projects, published more than 80 academic papers, obtained 12 authorized invention patents, 18 nationally approved varieties, and published more than 20 monographs.
